I can do it with my eyes closed. My own business? Less so.

Aloha besties,

I can tell a client exactly what their business needs with my eyes closed.

Ten years of doing this and it's practically reflex — I can look at someone's setup and see what's leaking, what's duplicated, what's quietly costing them six hours a week. I'll build it out, map it, hand it over, and they'll say "how did you see that so fast?"

And then there's my own business.

Not because I don't know better. Because I don't always have the time. I'm in everyone else's backend all week, and mine gets whatever's left on a Friday afternoon — which some weeks is nothing at all. I don't know why we do that to ourselves, but we do. (Anyone else? 🙄)

So here's what I tell people, and what I'm working on actually telling myself: be gentle with yourself. You're learning. Nobody is out to get you.

That's roughly the conversation I ended up having with Lindsey Aleson when she asked me to open up my actual backend — not the polished version. The tools, the systems, what I'd never give up, and what's still held together with good intentions.

(My "never give up" answer, if you're curious: sorry you have to tune in. 🤭)

She asked ten of us the same six questions. Ten completely different setups, all honest.

P.S. Speaking of not having the time — that's exactly why I built Out The Office, Bestie! It's the away-plan toolkit for when you need to actually leave: client emails already written, reminders that fire before you go, and the Do-Less System for deciding what truly needs you while you're out. $7 founders price, goes to $21 on October 1st → https://thehauoli.com/out-the-office-bestie/

Aloha besties, Confession: I'm writing this from my actual real-life vacation. The one I'm not supposed to be thinking about work during. And yet — here I am, hitting send on purpose, because this is the whole point. So let's talk about why you'd even want this thing. 😑 Because "I'll just figure it out" is not a plan. You've tried the out-of-office message. You still checked Slack from the pool. You've tried going full radio silence. You came home to 400 unread emails and a client who thought...

Aloha friend, So it's September, which means my feed is full of "my September challenge" posts, and something in me went — I want in, but not like that. Watch Here Here's the short version: I started building myself a 30-day list of things to fix before my birthday (the 24th, don't ask how old). Then I looked at the list and realized it was just a to-do list wearing a cute outfit. So I scrapped the "challenge" part and kept just one question, for the whole month: What would make this feel...
